Some whiskies drown if you try them in a tasting with other whiskies — this one has something new to offer every time!

Personally I prefer the Glengoynes 10 and 18; this one is good, but a bit bitter and unbalanced. Improves markedly with a 30 minute rest in the glass.

This got a 30 minute rest in the glass first, as the first tasting of this left me a bit unimpressed, however it more than proved its worth the second time around!

It's a great classic.

Unusal in a peated whisky, the peat itself takes a back seat, and the other flavours get to play.

This is one of the main stays in my collection, one of the few I'll buy a new bottle of before the old one is empty. At least that's what I thought until the 18 year old came out.

Perfection! It's hard to find any faults with this - the Old Malt Cask independent bottling is good, but this...

Very drinkable!

Too bad this is a unique bottling - Glendronach are known for their sherried whiskies, but this is sublime.

It's basically a successful experiment, and one I hope they repeat. As many other whiskies, this one benefits from "resting" for a bit in the glass before drinking.

This is a whisky that improves if you let it sit in the glass for a while first - without the rest, it has a sharp note in the nose and immediate taste that sours the experience. Other than that, it's fantastic!

Bottom line is, buy the Aberlour 12 year old instead.
